Today my youngest son, Luke, turned 8 years old. Wow, where has the time gone? I feel old, lol. Anyways, I figured I’d post a couple pics on here of him enjoying his ice cream cake today.

Who needs a spoon??? Luke can’t have sugar too much so he really enjoys it when we let him splurge for his birthday!

The last time I bought a pair of glasses, which was probably about 2 years ago, I told myself that was the last pair of glasses I would ever buy. You see, it has been a long time dream of mine to have Lasik eye surgery and get rid of the need for glasses forever. A couple months ago, I said enough’s enough and it’s time to do it. I started doing my research on different doctors and procedures but I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted. You see, a friend of mine’s girlfriend works at a local eye doctor’s office and had already told me what I needed to look out for. Eye surgery has come a long ways in the last 10 or 15 years. The latest and greatest technology is the Allegretto Wave Excimer Laser. It does a far more efficient job than any other laser ever created. And when it comes to my eyes, why would I want anything less than the best? Well it turns out there is only 1 doctor in southeast Louisiana who uses this technology so I knew that’s where I was going to go. I scheduled my appointment and took the plunge.

It’s been a week now since I had the Lasik procedure done and my eyes feel great! I have 20/20 vision and all looks well. My eyes were a little sore for a couple days but it’s nothing when I look back on it. One thing that I have heard from a few people that have had eye surgery is that their eyes are always dry afterwards and they constantly have to put drops in them. That’s not the case with me so far. I put the drops because they said I should, but my eyes don’t get dry at all so far. Hopefully things will continue to go as well as they have so far because I love my new eyes!

This past weekend our local cubscouts pack 550 had it’s annual Pinewood Derby and the boys had a blast. My son Ethan came in 4th place out of 23 cars. This is the first year he got a trophy and he was really excited. Here are a few pics and a video of his car in action.

Ethan’s car is the Gun’s N Roses one in the middle. Can you guess who helped him with that? LOL

The main company that I work with, Nutronix, is having an awesome contest and it’s just the kind of thing I need in my life right now. You see, they decided they are going to pay someone $10,000 just to lose weight and get in shape! Well, since that was one of my goals for this year anyway, I figured this is a no-brainer.

I have to say that this is one of the only drawbacks to working from home on the internet like I do. Home business marketing sure is fun, but it doesn’t require any physical activity. That was a big problem for me. You see, in my job as an electrician before I went fulltime as a home business marketer I did a lot of strenuous physical work. I was always on the go and didn’t eat a whole lot. I rarely ever worked out, but I never gained weight because I was so physically active. Well, since I have been working from home fulltime the last couple of years, I managed to put on quite a few pounds. Close to 40 pounds to be honest with you. I have been knowing that I needed to do something about it but there was always some kind of excuse readily available. “Oh, I’ll start next week”, or “after the holidays”, or “I’ll make it my new years resolution.” Yeah right, like that happened.

Well, now that’s all changing. I have made a commitment to myself and to the Nufit Weight Loss Program to give it a real go. So far, I really like what I see with the program. Last weekend was ESPN the weekend at Disney world in Orlando Florida. While we didn’t have a chance to attend this year, last year Ethan and I had a blast in Disney world for this event. One of the highlights for us is that we knew Drew Brees (quarterback of the New Orleans Saints) was going to be there. We hoped that maybe we could get a chance to get an autograph for Ethan or something along those lines. What we ended up with was so much more though. We arrived at the main stage for the weekends events on Thursday really just to get a schedule of events for the weekend. But as soon as we got there and a few people saw Ethan with his Drew Brees jersey on we were told that Drew was going to be filming on NFL live about an hour later. The camera man came to us and told us to hang out because he would get some good shots of Ethan since drew would be on the show. Here’s where things started to happen, I called all of my family back home and told them to turn on the TV and start recording. And sure enough, not even 2 hours into our big weekend at Disney World, there we were live on ESPN for the world to see. (I was going to put the video on here but I don’t think I can post it with youtube because of copyright stuff with ESPN). I don’t think Ethan truly grasped how awesome this was until he got home and heard from his friends at school that they saw him on TV though. But the best part was still yet to come. Because we were there on Thursday and nothing was really scheduled till the weekend, there weren’t too many people around and we were able to sneak backstage and get his jersey autographed from Drew Brees and I even got a great picture of them as well.

I eventually brought an 8×10 of this picture to the Saints training camp last summer and got Brees to autograph it as well. Now Ethan has this to hold onto for the rest of his life. Anyways, just a little rambling about how awesome it is to be able to spend this kind of quality time with my kids. I love my home business!

A what?

Searching for “Clocks” and “Time Credits” might sound like an episode of Dr. Who and the Time Lords but it’s actually all about traffic generation right now. Ok, I wanted to take a minute to review a new traffic exchange program that just launched about a month ago. It’s called Traffic Era . It’s been a pretty long time since I used traffic exchanges with the exception of TrafficSwarm but in my early days of online promotion I used to use them heavily with much success. I find that the quality of traffic that you get from them is not what it used to be but if you use them right you can still do a decent job of branding yourself online.

Traffic Era throws a whole new twist to the traffic exchange world by adding in a social networking aspect to it. Not only can you do the normal things like build credits to get your page viewed, but you can join discussion groups, teams, and do a whole lot of networking with other like minded marketers. The right way to use a site like this in my opinion is to use it to brand yourself online. Don’t follow the crowd and promote your company affiliate link because trust me it doesn’t work!

All in all, Traffic Era seems to have a lot of potential because it’s not just a traffic exchange but also a networking site for marketers. I for one will see how it goes over time and add it to my arsenal of strategies to “brand” myself online.
